A MOMENT WITH GLO HAUS DIRECTOR, LAUREN SCHOOTH – All your pre-wedding day skincare questions for healthy, radiant skin answered

When it comes to pre-wedding skincare, it’s so easy to overcomplicate our beauty regimes on our quest for that bridal glow; with so many choices and so much advice, the wrong product can leave you and your skin irritated and stressed out. So, we sat down with Glo Haus Director Lauran Schooth for professional advice and easy-to-follow skin care tips for healthy and glowing skin in the lead up to your wedding day.

The go-to for brides to be, Glo Haus is a skincare haven founded by Cosmetic Nurse Lauren Schooth and Skin Therapist Emily Mee. Together, the Glo Haus team have created an inviting and stylish skincare boutique in Brisbane, offering results-based treatments and tailored advice for renewed confidence and a lasting glow.

We’ve followed your journey for quite some time now; tell us, when did you open Glo Haus?

We opened Glo Haus in September last year; time has flown as we feel so fortunate to come to work with talented, amazing women and treat loyal and friendly clients every day.

What made you get into beauty, and what do you love most about your job?

Having both worked in the Beauty/Cosmetic industry for over ten years, we saw a gap in the industry and opened our clinic with the goal of combining a welcoming and stylish boutique with the right treatments, expertise and products that go beyond a moment of self-care to achieve affordable, lasting results.

We are passionate about all things skin and believe that healthy skin can be life-changing to how a person feels in themselves. Our advice and treatment plans are focused on improving our clients’ self-confidence and comfort in their own glowing skin.

What kind of beauty treatments do you specialise in?

We specialise in results-driven skin treatments and natural-looking cosmetic injectables.

What does your personal morning/night beauty regime look like, and which products do you swear by?

When should brides or (grooms) start seeing you pre-wedding if they want their skin to look its best?

We recommend starting a bridal treatment plan six to twelve months before your wedding, allowing time for your skin to repair any long-term damage, correct and renew, to achieve glowing results.

Can you share your top tips for getting wedding-ready and any dos or don’ts for both dry and oily skin?

DOS AND DON’TS

DRY SKIN

We recommend a series of hydrating and strengthening treatments alongside a prescribed cosmeceutical skincare regime for a glowing complexion on your big day. The result? Radiant, healthy skin.

Avoid overusing chemical exfoliants as this will strip the skin of its natural oils and damage the skin’s barrier. You can achieve a healthy glow without overdoing it.

OILY SKIN

For oily skin types, we recommend commencing a routine that your Skin Therapist has carefully curated to help manage excess oil and breakouts before the big day. Avoid buying skincare that is targeted towards acne-prone/oily skin as they generally contain harsh ingredients. They’ll often strip your skin’s barrier, which will make your skin a lot oilier.

Book in for treatments that will help strengthen and control oil flow, such as our Lymphatic Therapy and PRP Facials. Our favourite combo for healthy, dewy plump skin!

Top tips for the last-minute break outs?

Stop Spot from Aspect will be your best friend for last-minute blemishes. Add in a visit to our LED Light Lounge to reduce inflammation and speed up the healing process. Most importantly, DO NOT PICK!

When it comes to keeping our skin healthy and looking its best, what is often overlooked, and what easy-to-follow steps can you suggest combatting this?

We often forget to look at our internal health when thinking about skin. Our skin is the largest organ in our body, and it’s intimately connected with so many underlying processes and systems that can affect the appearance and function of our skin, which is why we always recommend internal beauty supplements alongside a topical skincare regime.

Are there any treatments or products brides should avoid close to their wedding day?

We recommend brides avoid resurfacing treatments the month out from their big day. Resurfacing treatments such as PRP and Chemical Peels are designed to speed up cell turnover, leading to breakouts. Also, avoid introducing any NEW skincare products into your routine. Say no to that random sample that’s been in your bathroom cupboard for months to avoid any reactions or breakouts to new ingredients.

Top tips for last-minute beauty treatments?

You can achieve luminous skin with no downtime, thanks to our LED Facials. Boasting a multitude of benefits, it’ll leave your skin invigorated, smooth, and simply glowing. These can be performed twice weekly in the month leading up to your big day.

Apply a Société Peptide Gel Mask the morning of your wedding to lock in moisture and create the perfect canvas for your makeup.

Do you offer online consultations for the brides that may be interstate or in lockdown?

Yes, we do! Online Consultations are done via Zoom with our Senior Therapist.

Lastly, what is your best piece of expert advice for pre-wedding skincare?

Stick to a routine prescribed by your Skin Therapist. Consistency is key!

Editor’s Note: We value the Glo Haus teams’ honest advice for brides (and grooms) to be. In the lead-up to your special day, we understand the importance of surrounding yourself with a genuinely supportive team who are committed to helping you feel and look your best on your wedding day. If your big day is approaching and you’re in a state that is in lockdown, don’t fret, like Glo Haus, many premium skincare boutiques offer online consultations and advice so you can look after your skin at home with the help and guidance of professionals.
